Paul woodley

Get ready to rumble as the highly anticipated boxing rematch between Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley is all set for Saturday, December 18 at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. Whether you’re a fan of boxing, mixed martial arts (MMA) or simply love these high-profile events, this fight card promises to deliver some entertaining action for all to enjoy. The main event was originally scheduled between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury, the half-brother of World Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury. However, after months of heavy trash talk, Fury was recently forced to withdraw due to a bacterial chest infection and a broken rib. While that may be disappointing news for some fans, the promoters found a great replacement fighter in Tyron Woodley. This will be the second boxing match between Paul and Woodley, with Paul winning the first fight by split-decision over the summer. Woodley now has his chance to avenge that loss on December 18.

In addition to the main event between Paul and Woodley, the undercard will feature a co-main event as female World Featherweight Champion Amanda Serrano takes on Miriam Gutierrez. Adding to the excitement, the undercard also includes a unique matchup between former NBA All-Star Deron Williams and former NFL Pro-Bowler Frank Gore. There’s been a ton of betting interest surrounding this event and Bovada Sportsbook has betting odds available on all of it. In addition betting odds on the winner of each fight, you can also wager on the method of victory, the total number of knockdowns, which round the fight will end and lots more. Before you check the odds and start betting on the fights, here’s a preview Paul vs Fury 2, as well as the other high-profile bout between former pro athletes Williams and Gore.

Jake Paul (-275) vs Tyron Woodley (+205)

Tommy Fury is out but there’s still a ton of hype leading up to the remeatch fight between Paul and Woodley; betting fans have been waiting for this rematch ever since the first fight ended. With that being said, let’s take a closer look at the odds for both fighters as we lead up to fight night on December 18.

Jake Paul

Jake Paul may have become famous on YouTube, but the 24-year old has made quite a name for himself in the boxing world over the past couple of years. Standing at 6’1 with a 76-inch reach, Paul has put together a career record of 4-0, with 3 of those wins coming by way of knockout. His most recent fight was also against his upcoming opponent Woodley, with the pair going the distance before Paul took the win via split decision. Prior to that fight, Paul secured a TKO victory over Ben Askren, another reputable MMA fighter.

Tyron Woodley

MMA fans already know all about Tyron Woodley, AKA The Chosen One. Woodley has been a professional fighter since 2009 and is considered one of the greatest Welterweight Champions in UFC history, having defended his title on four separate occasions. Now 39, Woodley is continuing his foray into the world of boxing following his split-decision loss to Paul in his first-ever boxing match back in August. Woodley is listed at 5’9 with a 74-inch reach, and although his career boxing record is 0-1, he has an impressive 19-7-1 mark with 7 career knockouts over his MMA career.

Betting Preview

With -275 betting odds at Bovada Sportsbook, Jake Paul enters as the clear favorite thanks to his previous win over Woodley and his still-undefeated record in the boxing ring. Paul has the clear edge over his opponent in terms of height and reach, but Woodley has been a professional fighter for years and this experience should not be overlooked. This will only be the second bout of Woodley’s boxing career, however, he should have a better idea of what to expect before stepping into the ring. From the first bout, and considering Woodley was a D1 wrestler in college, he possesses great footwork; an influential factor in boxing. With Bovada odds makers offering a generous +205 on Woodley to win the fight, the former UFC star delivers plenty of betting value in this boxing rematch.

Deron Williams (-165) vs Frank Gore (+125)

It’s not often that a bout between two fighters making their professional boxing debuts garners this much media attention, but that’s what happens when you get all-stars from the NBA and NFL to step inside the ring. You’re most likely already familiar with Williams and Gore from their careers in basketball and football, respectively, so let’s look at the tale of the tape between these two rookie fighters.

Deron Williams

The four-time NBA All-Star, and two-time Olympic gold medalist, stands at 6’3 and has a reach of 78 inches. Williams has become familiar with the fighting world in recent years as co-owner of Fortis MMA, one of the country’s leading gyms for mixed martial arts. Having played for the Jazz, Mavericks, Nets and Cavaliers over an impressive 12-year NBA career, the now 37-year old Williams will be fighting for the respect of all basketball players when he enters the ring in this undercard matchup.

Frank Gore

In addition to being an official Bovada Ambassador, the 16-year NFL veteran is ranked third all-time in career rushing yards and will need to remain quick on his feet if he wants to win this fight. The former NFL running back is known for his durability and has been using boxing as part of his conditioning training for years. Gore is listed at 5’9 with a 69-inch reach, and has a powerful core that should serve him well as a boxer.

Betting Preview

With both men making their professional boxing debuts, this bout should be one of the more competitive fights on the card. With millions tuning in from across the world, you can be sure that both athletes will give their best effort in the ring. It can be tough to make a betting prediction on two completely untested fighters, but betting the under on total rounds may be a sharp play when you consider the advanced age of both men.
