College Football Betting – Matchups Preview
Just a few short months ago, nobody could be sure we’d even have a college football season, and yet here we are in the back-half of the season with tons of great games still to come. Dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic has been a logistical nightmare for the NCAA, but they somehow managed to get all of the Power Five conferences to take part in the 2020 college football season. This is great news for fans of NCAA football betting, as there are dozens of college football odds to choose from every week! In order to help you navigate the college football betting landscape, we’ve compiled a list of the top five most intriguing matchups remaining over the final few weeks of the NCAA football season.
Matchup #1 – Texas A&M Aggies vs. Auburn Tigers – December 5, 2020
In a battle between two of the premier football programs in the SEC, the Texas A&M Aggies travel to Jordan-Hare Stadium to take on the Auburn Tigers. The 6-1 Aggies enjoyed a 20-7 win against LSU last week and will be looking for more of the same versus the 5-3 Tigers. Auburn is coming off an embarrassing 42-13 defeat at the hands of the top-ranked Alabama, so you can be sure they’ll be fired up and ready to take the field for this contest.
From a college football betting perspective, this matchup promises to be an exciting affair between two of the more talented programs in the nation. When reviewing the odds for this SEC matchup, it’s important to keep an eye on recent betting trends; Texas A&M has won five straight games, but the Aggies are just 3-6 against the spread over their last nine.
Matchup #2 – Indiana Hoosiers vs. Wisconsin Badgers – December 5, 2020
In a pivotal Big Ten matchup, the 5-1 Hoosiers travel to Wisconsin to take on the 2-1 Badgers. Indiana is enjoying a strong start to the season in the Big Ten standings and the team already has impressive wins against Penn State and Michigan. On the flip side, Wisconsin is simply trying to get their season rolling after having three of their first six games cancelled due to COVID-19-related concerns. With the Big Ten schedule limited due to the pandemic, this game will play a big role in determining the conference’s final standings.
While Indiana is an impressive 7-0 against the spread over their last seven games, NCAA football betting fans should know that the Hoosiers are 0-5 in their last five games against Wisconsin, both straight up and against the spread. The betting odds make this a tough game to pick but it is shaping up to be one of the best Big Ten battles of the season.
Matchup #3 – North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Miami Hurricanes – December 12, 2020
The ACC provides college football fans with this appealing betting matchup between the 6-3 Tar Heels and 7-1 Hurricanes. This will be North Carolina’s final game of the regular season and the Tar Heels would love to get the win against their conference rival, but they’ll have their hands full with a very strong Miami team whose only loss this season came against fourth-ranked Clemson. With that being said, North Carolina has an explosive offense and they should give the Hurricanes a solid challenge in this contest.
With regards to the betting odds for this college football game, UNC has not been the best pick this year with a record of just 4-5 against the spread. On top of that, the Tar Heels are 1-3 against the spread on the road, while Miami is 3-1 as the host. There’s no disputing that Clemson and Notre Dame are the class of the ACC this season, but a Miami win versus North Carolina could go a long way in the eyes of College Football Playoff Selection Committee.
Matchup #4 – Navy vs. Army – December 12, 2020
When it comes to college football rivalries, no list would be complete without mentioning the tradition of the annual Army-Navy game. Although this game may have very little impact on the landscape of this year’s College Football Playoffs, it usually delivers some thrilling action for the NCAA football betting community. This will be the 121st game between the two programs, with Navy leading the all-time series 61–52–7. While Navy won each game between 2002-2015, Army has bounced back in recent years, having won three of the last four matchups.
This has been a tough year for Navy’s football program, as they toil near the bottom of the AAC with a 3-5 record. Army has looked like the better team by far this season, and owns a 7-2 record heading into December. Still, when it comes to a football rivalry that’s gone on for this long, anything can happen.
Matchup #5 – Michigan Wolverines vs. Ohio State Buckeyes – December 12, 2020
If you love betting on college football, this is yet another great rivalry that should command your attention. The annual Michigan-Ohio State matchup, AKA “The Game”, is always a popular event among NCAA football odds makers and betting fans. Ohio State has won this annual matchup for the past eight straight years, yet Michigan still leads the all-time series with a record of 58–51–6.
The 2-4 Wolverines have been abysmal in 2020, and will need their best performance of the season if they want any chance at defeating the 4-0 Buckeyes. While the odds are clearly in Ohio State’s favor, this is the biggest game left on Michigan’s schedule so you can be sure they’ll come ready to play. Despite the Buckeye’s perfect record in the Big Ten standings, the team is just 2-2 against the spread this season. Having said that, Michigan is even worse with a record of 1-5 against the spread in 2020. Join Bovada Today!
