Water is wet, grass is green and Manchester City are unbeaten at the top of the Premier League. What else is new? Well, quite a lot. The opening few weeks have been successful for a number of teams and for others, (my beloved Manchester United included) it has been very disappointing. Arsenal, West Ham, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur are even-stevens with two wins and one draw each, sitting at joint second place in the league with seven points.
Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest
Losing multiple players in the transfer window, combined with injuries has meant for a fractured opener for Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea who are currently residing in 10th place. Chelsea will be desperate to secure three points this weekend as they play Nottingham Forest.
Burnley vs Tottenham
In the Premier League, Spurs have shown much needed confidence under new manager Ange Postecoglou. However, they head in to this weekend following a crushing penalty shoot-out defeat to Fulham in the League Cup during the week. After saying goodbye to star striker Harry Kane who departed for Bayern Munich, can the new-look Spurs swiftly put the loss behind them and keep the EPL momentum going?

Brighton vs Newcastle
After a resoundingly successful campaign for Newcastle last season, Eddie Howe’s team have struggled to find their feet in the opening games with two losses and just one win which places them in 13th position. Newcastle travel to the south coast this weekend to face in-form Brighton in what promises to be a tasty clash.
Arsenal vs Manchester United
Manchester United have a severe injury crisis on their hands; new signings Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund both out for several weeks and joining them are key defenders Luke Shaw and Rafael Varane. United have shown lack lustre performances and with the collapse of the sale of the club combined with their injury nightmares, fans are feeling less than confident going in to a hugely difficult game against Arsenal this Sunday.
Sheffield United vs Everton
At the other end of the Premier League table, Everton’s problems from last season continue. Currently languishing at rock bottom after three games, three defeats, it is the worst possible start to the new season. Everton face Sheffield United away from home who had a disaster during the week losing to League One side, Lincoln City, in the Cup on penalties. Can Everton take advantage of a possible drop in confidence from Sheffield United?

Or course, it is very much still early days of this Premier League campaign but it is hard to see past Manchester City continuing in the fantastic vein of form they are in and their intelligent recruitment during the transfer window only reinforces this thinking. This weekend City host Fulham and are favorites to walk away with another three points. Will there be some upsets this weekend? I predict I will be licking my wounds at full-time whistle at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.
